Project EMIR - 5G-Enhanced Embedded Intelligence for Robotic Autonomy and Smart City Monitoring Application
Description The project focuses on the use of advanced features of 5G networks (eg slicing) to expand existing and new COGNITECHNA products in order to use existing and gradually expanding standards of 5G (and higher) networks, with a possible contribution to new standards. Some existing solutions of COGNITECHNA s.r.o. Today, they rely on communication via 4G networks and for some data transmission applications only in places where it is possible to connect them via a standard Ethernet cable, or where a dedicated WiFi network is available. The project of enabling the implementation of new functionality, which is currently not possible to provide in the required scope or quality.

Project RoQuIEm - 5G-enabled Road Quality Monitoring based on Embedded Intelligence
Description The goal of the proposed project is to use existing mobile parking monitoring systems to acquire additional relevant traffic data, such as parameters and condition of roads, traffic signs, but also other other data. In order to improve QoS and QoE, the features of the 5G network will be used to enable high-quality data recording and real-time processing in the cloud environment. In addition, next-generation networks will be used to distribute information about the state of the road and surrounding infrastructure. Technically, it is an extension to the existing traffic monitoring system on the vehicle through additional sensors and novel functions.

Project RoSuM - 5G-enabled Road Surface Marking and Traffic Sign Localization, Quality Inspection, and Regular Passportization
Description The aim of the project is to create a system for automated visual inspection of the condition of the road, road markings, traffic equipment and other assets of the road administrator. The system will use continuous data collection using smart camera devices for fast fault detection, and these will be clearly reported to the administrator of the communications. The system will utilize modern machine learning methods and advanced localization algorithms that allow the manufacturing of cheaper and more usable equipment than currently available on the market. The overall system will consist of a smart camera, software using artificial intelligence and existing map data for in-camera data selection, and a cloud system for final evaluation and reporting of communication defects and changes.

Project EmIC - Embedded Intelligence for Smart Cameras with Computer Vision Applications for Transportation and Industry
Description

The goal of the project is to research and develop “Embedded Intelligence for Smart Cameras with Computer Vision Applications for Transportation and Industry”, i.e. to create an embedded system with artificial intelligence, designed for computer vision in smart cameras, software for smart cameras, and implementation methods for artificial intelligence in such cameras. From the application point of view, it means applying project results in the form of an extension to the current company's portfolio of traffic and industry applications.

 

The project was co-financed with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the TREND Programme for Support of Industrial Research and Experimental Development.

Project Intelligent Sensors for Traffic Monitoring (InSeM)
Description The project focuses on the design and deployment of intelligent sensors for traffic monitoring and detection of traffic violations. The focus is on camera-based systems with inputs from additional sensors such as radar, laser meters, or other additional sensor inputs to improve the utility of the resulting solution. The aim is to experimentally build such systems, verify them and obtain feedback. The planned commercial output is a smart camera with additional sensors.

Project 5G ENHANCED ROBOT AUTONOMY
Description

The project is oriented toward a user-centric paradigm of integrating vertical knowledge into the existing standardised 5G testing framework to improve Quality of Experience (QoE). The project addresses the new challenges on experimental facilities for the vertical developers and designers through the following activities:

  1. integrating operational processes of essential autonomous robotic capabilities into Open Source MANO (OSM), ensuring the vertical specific adaptation of existing experimentation facilities,
  2. realising an intent-based networking paradigm by aligning the end-to-end (E2E) resource optimisation with the autonomous operations, ensuring effective policy to be designed.
  3. Cloud native Network Services (NSs) on the experimental facilities will create, ensuring robotic applications exploiting NFV/SDN infrastructures efficiently,
  4. extending the experimentation facilities into robotic domains thorough standard APIs under Robot Operating System (ROS), prompting third-parties’ experimentation activities as well as engagement from new players.
